Measures taken for speedy disposal of pending cases
ITANAGAR, Jul 31: A meeting was held in the office chamber of DC Yupia along with all the administrative officers of different circles of Papum Pare district and the officers posted at HQ to discuss the issues related to pending cases in the magisterial courts of the district and to find out remedies for immediate trial of the pending cases in the courts and its disposal.
While chairing the meeting, DC Pige Ligu insisted all the officers to dispose of maximum pending cases within three months.
He also directed the magistrate to take care while granting bail to the accused on the gravity of offence ad as per the case records. Necessary man power and office assistance will be provided to trial magistrate for speedy trial and disposal of cases, the DC said.
One killed, suspected killer nabbed

DAPORIJO, Jul 31: A person has been arrested on suspicion of murder of a labourer and is currently in Daporijo police custody.
One Vijay Raito, 37, from Gajapati district of Orissa was allegedly murdered by one Taba Deepak, 36, of Yazali under Lower Subansiri district at Lega area of Nasi village near bank of Subansiri River on July 26, Police said.
The accused has reportedly confessed his crime after rapid interrogation by police. It was also revealed during interrogation that personal enmity led to the murder of Vijay, police said, adding that the alleged murderer threw the deceased’s body into Subansiri river after he was hacked to death.
Police registered a case (no.12/2013) against the accused U/S 302/201 IPC and detained in custody of Daporijo Police, informed Taliha OC.
Police launched search operation to recover the body.
Dumporijo Police detained the alleged accused first on suspicion as he was reportedly seen with Vijay on July 26. Later, Dumporijo Police handed him over to Taliha police.
SSA SPD sends reminder
ITANAGAR, July 31: Upset by the inaction of the SSA District Mission across the state for not constituting District level Committee for SSA programme, MDM scheme and RMSA programme, State Project Director SSA Rajya Mission R K Mishra in a reminder letter to the DDSE cum DPOs (SSA) of all the districts has again asked for constitution of the same. Asking for its early constitution, he further asked the minute of meeting, which has decided the constitution of the committee, to be uploaded in the website and also to send across a hard copy of the same to the office of State Project Director, SSA Rajya Mission. Even after three months of office memorandum, the districts except Changlang have not shown any positive action taken report in this regard, the SPD said.

ITANAGAR, Jul 31: The Arunachal CMJ University B Ed Degree Holder Association has requested the education department to defer the date of DPC of AT to JT promotion.

Action against unhygienic meat sellers
ITANAGAR, July 31: The Capital district administration today carried out a drive against unhygienic meat sellers on the road side at the residential areas of Abotani Colony and Nitivihar. The butchers were brought at Police Station for interrogation and to check their documents like trading license etc. The drive was carried out on the basis of the complaints made by the residents of Abotani Colony and Nitivihar areas against the persons selling beef publicly in an unhygienic condition. Such slaughtering of animal and display of meat creates public anguish and also becomes a source of health hazard, the administration observed.

Daporijo rape case condemned
ITANAGAR, Jul 31: Condemning the recent Daporijo rape incident wherein a minor girl was raped by a 23 year old man, the Nari Kalyan Kendra, Daporijo while terming it as a rare case has urged that the rapist be punished in the hardest way.
In a release it said, he should be given exemplary punishment so that such crimes are not repeated in future.
In a tribal society like ours, we never knew the meaning of rape: though social evils like child marriage and forced marriages existed, it said while also informing that it would extend help to the victim.
It further appealed all the civil societies and other organizations to condemn such act at the highest form and let the law be allowed to take its own course of action by specifically opening a fast track court for such crime, so that justice delivery is not delayed.
Efforts to streamline PDS at Damin
ITANAGAR, Jul 31: The Damin Anchal Samiti of Kurung Kumey district has decided that the PDS commodities will be issued to the beneficiaries according to the quota divided against each ASM segment.
It was decided during a meeting held at Itanagar recently among all the PRI members of the area and the PDS contractors.
Its other resolutions are; all the PDS carriage contractors will station their commodities at the distributing centres, 1) at Luruk Pass, and 2) at Parsi Parlo from the respective areas and all the functioning schools under Damin Anchal Samiti will be allotted PDS quotas per boarder strength.

GWS seeks adequate relief for fire victims
ITANAGAR, Jul 31: Galo Welfare Society (GWS) expressed shock over the fire accident that broke out at Kamba on July 29 burning down 13 houses to ashes.
GWS urged the State Government to provide more relief to the victims, who have lost their all belongings in the devastating fire, on humanitarian ground. The victims could not save their properties as the fire broke out at night when the people were asleep. The society, however, appreciated the prompt action taken by the West Siang Deputy Commissioner for providing immediate relief to the victims.
Pasighat civic body dreams a ‘Role Model City’

Illegal timber traders arrested
ITANAGAR, Jul 31: Longding Police has arrested three illegal timber traders from Tissing under Longding Police station and seized 60 pieces of hand sawn timber from them.
The arrests were made after Longding Police intercepted a number plate-
The timbers were being smuggled to Assam via Bimalapur road from Chanu village.
The arrested persons are Taibo Jamikham, (30) of Ranglua Village, Biju Baruah, (28) and Mridul Gogoi, (30) both from Bimlapur, Assam.
A case has been registered in Longding Police Station under Section 379 IPC R/W Sec 25 Assam Forest Regulation Act 1891 against the three arrested persons and the vehicle loaded with illegal timber taken into custody of Longding Police station.
Biju Baruah and Dharmeshwar Gogoi were also found without Inner Line Permit violating the norms of BEFR 1873.
Ering calls for public hearing on Simang hydro project
PASIGHAT, Jul 31: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering yesterday met East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava and discussed various issues, including Simang Hydropower project.
During their course of discussion, the minister enquired the DC about the present status of the proposed hydel project and suggested for calling Public Hearing soon stating that clearances from Pollution Control Board and ministry of environment and forest have already been obtained.
DC Srivastava informed the Union Minister that awareness programs are being organized by the administration to make people aware and understand the benefits of the upcoming project. To meet our own requirement, there is an urgent need to develop our huge untapped hydro power potential capacity in the state for economic well being and growth of the people in the whole region, she said.
CCI clears 2 hydro projects in Arunachal
NEW DELHI, Jul 31: The Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) is believed to have approved setting up two hydro power projects in Arunachal Pradesh.
"Defence and Home Ministries have also given their consent for the construction of two hydel power plants in Arunachal Pradesh," a source close to the development told PTI, adding that the CCI has given approval to the project.
CCI is also believed to have cleared three Railway projects.
Hydro power contributes 18.6 per cent at 39,416 MW to the overall installed generation capacity of 2,11,766 MW.
As per reports, Arunachal Pradesh has the highest potential for hydropower generation in the country at over 50,000 MW.

ZPMs call for rationalization of teachers posting in Papum Pare
ITANAGAR, Jul 31: A meeting of the education department with Zilla Parishad members of Papum Pare district was held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Yupia yesterday. The meeting presided over by Papum Pare DC cum DPD Pige Ligu was attended by ZP chairperson Nabam Aka, DDSE Tagu Tana Tara, ZPMs and officers and officials of the education department.

The issue of rationalization of teachers posting in the district is seriously taken up in the meeting by the ZPMs. They have resolved that all the SSA teachers who were appointed against respective circle and blocks should be sent back to their respective place of posting immediately to solve the single teacher problem in the remote area. The house also asked the education department for posting of subject teachers in Secondary Schools of the district at the earliest as most of the secondary schools in the district do not have subject teachers. All ZPM’s shared their views and assured to extend all possible helps for improvement of education sector, at the same time they also assured to maintain quality of the work execution by proper monitoring and supervision.
In the supportive speech, ZP Chairperson asked the education authorities that any programme implemented in the schools should be rooted through PRI leaders. While alarming the newly elected PR members the Chairperson requested them to be responsive and familiar with the school administration for the development of the education as well as society. She asked the education authority that if any field functionaries in the education department are not doing well should be sent back to schools.
Lastly the Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu asked DDSE to issue notice to transfer teachers to join their new place of posting immediately, failing to comply with the order the disciplinary action should be initiated against the defaulter teachers which may leads to suspension / termination of the teachers. DAPORIJO, Jul 31: Upper Subansiri District administration finally woke up to act tough against Government land encroachers as it issued order to book three under appropriate sections of the law for dismantling government quarters.
On July 29, the district administration has issued order to bring three persons to book under appropriate sections of CrPC and IPC, who illegally dismantled the medical department quarters at Medical Colony and DRDA office quarters.

Regional level basic course for Rover Scout Leader and Ranger Leader held
ITANAGAR, July 31: Regional Level Basic Course for Rover Scout Leader and Ranger Leader was held at State Headquarters for Bharat Scouts and Guides, Polo Colony, Naharlagun from July 24 to 30 last.
Altogether 61 participants including staff from Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, North Eastern Railways, Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh attended the programme.

It’s really hurt us whenever we heard the term 'HARING'. I have never found this
word in any dictionary or in any text book both NCERT and Pvt. Publication. But after
interacting with some local people they told me that this term is being used to tag
outsiders. Ok, that’s fine but most annoying thing is that the term has been used
to tag mostly in markets, schools and indeed everywhere. Some people without calling
our names directly address us as 'Oye haring'. I think this is not part of civilized
society. Even the kindergarten kids used this term those who even can’t speak properly.
How come they know about the term? Once I met a boy of 10 years old and asked him
what is the meaning of this term HARING and he was just numbed and couldn’t reply.
He told me that he came to know about this term from his parents. Yes it must be
from the parents because school never teaches such things. Whenever I hear this term
I really feel alienated from this land of rising sun. Whenever I heard this term

Bad road condition can cost us dearly
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention of concerned authority and pressure groups of the state about the deteriorating road and other infrastructure of the capital complex.
One hour of rain is enough to let you know the real face of capital complex. In rainy season there are mud everywhere and in the hot sun its dust everywhere. The drainage system of capital is not working at all. Authorities do not maintain the drain properly. Everyone while driving around capital road blame government and the system but we are also responsible for it. Associations and union use to announce bandh and go for strikes even for very petty matters but does not focus on this vital matter. That’s why they receives criticism rather than recognition from ordinary citizen.
We are moving towards four lane road but if we see our history we are even unable to maintain one lane road. People travelling through expensive cars and SUVs can never feel bad condition of the roads but the people travelling through tracker and tempo knows the pain of traveling in a bad road.
When a common people of Arunachal comment on the poor road condition of Capital Complex it hardly affects the economic health of the state but when comment comes from tourist or other visitors then it can have a strong effect on the economic health of the state.
Being an indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh I would like to request the concerned authority (particularly the PWD minister) to take necessary steps as soon as possible and I am optimistic on the point that our Chief Minister will never let down the belief of whole Arunachal Pradesh.

Government should concentrate on road development

Many a times people appeals through social media to government of Arunachal Pradesh
for development of road communication. People are crying for development of road
but govt still remains mum’s as it is. People from across the country and abroad
visit our state to see natural beauty. But they feel very bad about pathetic road
condition. Recently some foreigners visited tourist place at Jote near NIT site,
and bamboo processing industries at Poma which is very famous for local handmade
crafts in the state. The foreigners appreciated villagers for their hard work. The
credit goes to our former governor Gen JJ Singh for his initiation in establishing
both Jote tourist lodge and Poma bamboo industry. But the foreign visitors were not
appreciative of the pathetic road condition. Though Jote-
